Two die in two-vehicle wreck near Beech Island

Two people died in a one-vehicle crash in Barnwell, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

Two people are dead after a vehicle accident in Barnwell County.

Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident took place around 3:10 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 78, six miles east of the town of Blackville.

Bennett said a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria with a driver and passenger was involved. He said both occupants died at the scene.

Bennett said the driver of the vehicle was traveling west on U.S. 78 near the intersection of Jean Lane, ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch; the vehicle overturned multiple times.

The incident is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol and the information on the victims can be obtained from the Barnwell County Coroner’s Office.
