An Aiken County man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man. 

Aiken County Sheriff's deputies arrested Ivan Avila, 25, of Gloverville, on Tuesday morning. 

Gloverville is one of several former mill towns lining the Midland Valley between Aiken and North Augusta. 

Avila allegedly stabbed a victim under his left arm at his lungs with malice aforethought, according to a warrant. 

Attempted murder is a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison, according to the South Carolina Code of Laws.

An Aiken County magistrate denied Mackey bond, according to Aiken County Detention Center records. 

No further court dates have been set. 

The arrest marks the second arrest on an attempted murder charge in the area in the last week.
