USC Aiken and Aiken Technical College co-hosted the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration at the USCA Convocation Center on Jan. 22. Aiken Councilwoman Lessie Price was the keynote speaker. Other program highlights included a service fair for local non-profits hosted by United Way of Aiken County, Inc., presentation of poster and essay contest awards, and musical selections performed by the USCA Chamber Choir and singers from Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The Hopelands Concert Series will be held Mondays through June 24. Savannah River Winds will perform at 7 p.m. Monday at the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage at Hopelands Gardens, 135 Dupree Place. Lawn chairs and blankets may be brought, as well as picnic dinners and non-alcoholic beverages. Parking is at the Green Boundary Club, 780 Whiskey Road. Handicap parking is available at the Rye Patch parking lot on Berrie Road and the Hopelands Gardens parking lot.
