This is a short letter to the editor to recognize a small business in Aiken and North Augusta that goes above and beyond in providing service to their customers.

That business is the Hearing Associates of South Carolina and one, particularly, one of the owners, Dr. Sherri Little.

Like many who will read this, hearing loss is a problem for me. For those of you who have hearing loss, you understand the many impacts it can have on your life (and marriage).

For calibration purposes, when I do surveys, I always check the 70+ box. Accuracy would mean that there should be a 90+ box, as I am 90+.

Yes, I have hearing aids. A marvel of technology. Mine were not purchased from HASC. I am retired Navy and I obtained them via Eisenhower Medical Center at For Eisenhower. But one of the hearing aids stopped working.

HASC did not have to do anything and could have referred me back to the Audiological Department at Eisenhower Medical Center.

But they went above and beyond. They are sending the defective hearing aid back to the manufacturer for repair and have given me a “loaner” hearing aid to use until it is returned.

Yes, I had to pay for an office visit, and perhaps two, but the cost is well worth at least two trips to and from Fort Eisenhower by a 90+ year old.

Kudos to HASC and Dr. Sherri Little.
