A local teen who was arrested and charged in January in connection to an October 2023 shooting is facing a criminal sexual conduct charge.

Simeon McPherson, 18, of North Augusta was arrested and charged March 1 with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to jail records.

Police responded to a location on Bismark Circle on Jan. 19 in reference to a sexual assault, according to an incident report from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.

Police spoke with a complainant, who told police the victim had invited a man to come over to hang out, the report said.

The victim told the suspect she didn’t want to do anything inappropriate but he put her in a choke hold. She told him to stop repeatedly during the assault, the report said.

The victim completed a written statement and the officer notified a supervisor about the incident, the report said.

Police were able to collect bedsheets as evidence, the report said.

McPherson was also arrested and charged Jan. 25 with three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection to an Oct. 29, 2023, shooting.

Three people were shot at building 500 of North Augusta Gardens apartment complex.

An officer at the scene said two vehicles and several apartments were hit during the gunfire exchange. Two juveniles connected to the shooting were arrested.

McPherson is listed as an inmate at the Aiken County detention center and has no bond.
