A Jackson man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to blow up a New Ellenton gas station.

Aiken County Sheriff's deputies arrested Craig B. Drayton Jr., 30, of Jackson, Wednesday morning on charges of making a bomb threat and attempted armed robbery.

Drayton called the gas station located at 519 Main St. N in New Ellenton on March 30 and threatened to blow the gas station "in 10 minutes" unless the station's safe was opened and the money inside left near the station's dumpster, investigators allege.

The case is being invested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Aiken County Sheriff's Office and the New Ellenton Police Department.

Drayton faces up to 35 years if convicted on both charges.

Attempted armed robbery is also a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

An Aiken County magistrate denied Drayton bond Wednesday.
