Details from a 911 call and blood evidence found in a car led deputies to charge Jamilla Shanaé Smith's ex-boyfriend with murder. She remains missing.

Daniel Gabriel Harmon, 34, of Beech Island was arrested Dec. 23 and charged with murder, according to a press release from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Harmon has been in the custody of police since Dec. 5 after a stand-off with police at a residence on Carpentersville Road.

Harmon was previously charged with kidnapping in Smith’s disappearance and second-degree domestic violence related to a separate incident that also involved Smith.

Smith's family hasn’t heard from her since Dec. 2. Police said her remains have not been located.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Harmon killed Smith at 8:48 p.m. Dec. 2 at 425 Old Jackson Highway in Jackson.

The affidavit said Harmon, Smith’s ex-boyfriend, broke into her house and chased her down the road while she spoke to a 911 dispatcher.

On the call, it sounded like Smith was out of breath and when the dispatcher asked where she would like to meet the deputy, a car engine could be heard revving before Smith was heard screaming and the phone appeared to drop, according to the affidavit.

A male voice is heard telling Smith to get into the car and saying he will take her to the emergency room, the affidavit said.

Smith continued to scream and could be heard yelling, “don’t touch me, don’t hurt me please and you hit me.”

The male voice said Smith jumped in front of the car, and she said, “No I didn’t." Smith could be heard saying to leave her alone, and said she was hurt.

Smith continued to scream and said, "You ran over me."

Smith’s mother, Tina McCraw, reported her missing Dec. 3. On Dec. 4, the sheriff's office issued a release stating that Smith and Harmon were missing and deputies were looking for a Black Dodge Charger.

The vehicle was later located on Carpentersville Road.

On Dec. 6, police executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found blood located in the trunk. Blood swabs were taken from the vehicle and sent to the State Law Enforcement Division for a known DNA sample.

Harmon is listed as an inmate at the Aiken County detention center and has no bond.

Investigators urge anyone with information on Smith's whereabouts to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at 803-648-6811.
