The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare currently faces a critical situation characterized by overwhelming numbers of adorable kittens in need of affectionate care. The organization needs community support to save the lives of these helpless kittens.

At this time, the center's annex — originally designed to accommodate 45 kittens comfortably — is strained to its limits, accommodating an astonishing count of 83 kittens under its roof. The number continues to escalate daily, posing challenges to managing the influx. This situation heightens the vulnerability of the animals to illness and disease, further complicating the task of the committed staff in providing the superior care these precious animals deserve.

Compassionate individuals of the community are implored to step forward, extend their compassion and open their hearts and homes to these vulnerable kittens in dire need of foster care. By temporarily hosting these kittens, one can significantly impact their lives and help alleviate the strain on the organization's already stretched resources.

Fostering a kitten is a profoundly rewarding undertaking, typically entailing a commitment of just a few weeks. To facilitate fostering, the organization offers all necessary supplies for animal care including food, litter and bedding. A skilled veterinary team is available for any medical concerns during the fostering journey, and with access to a 24/7 emergency phone line, caregivers are never alone in their efforts to nurture these innocent beings.

Assuming the role of a foster parent for these kittens not only saves individual lives but also contributes to the broader mission of promoting animal welfare and curbing overpopulation. Fostering can significantly influence the lives of these kittens, providing them the love, care and stability required for thriving.

The gravity of this role cannot be overstated. Collectively, the community has the power to make a difference one kitten at a time. People are urged to consider fostering and participating in the mission to create a better world for these endearing creatures.

Individuals willing to open their hearts and homes to a kitten, or those who know someone who can, are encouraged to call 803-648-6863, email foster@letlovelive.org, or visit the shelter located at 199 Willow Run Road.

The SPCA Albrecht Center is here for the animals in need, but they cannot meet this overwhelming need alone. Let the community step up to support the animal shelter’s efforts, providing the necessary love and care to these kittens in dire need.
