It didn’t take long for College of Charleston’s Ben Burnham to find a new home at a Power 5 school.
Burnham, a junior, announced on social media that he will be transferring to Virginia Tech on April 4.
Burnham becomes the third Cougar players to commit to an ACC school – joining Reyne Smith and James Scott – who followed former College of Charleston head coach Pat Kelsey to Louisville.
In three seasons with the Cougars, Burnham averaged 9.5 points and 4.2 rebounds a game.
Burnham was one of the first CofC players to enter the transfer portal after helping lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
Burnham had his best season in a Cougars uniform this year as the Rock Hill native was third on the team in scoring, averaging a career-high 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.
Redshirt freshmen guards Jordan Crawford and Khalil London entered the transfer portal last week, along with reserve guard Evan Kilminster.
Ante Brzovic, a 6-10 junior, was the first CofC player to enter the transfer portal after the conclusion of the season but had second thoughts, announcing on Wednesday that he will remain at the downtown school.
Brzovic averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds for the 27-8 Cougars last season, helping the team to a Coastal Athletic Association title and NCAA Tournament berth and earning All-CAA honors in the process.
He had entered his name in the portal as former CofC coach Pat Kelsey was being hired by Louisville. But Brzovic attended new coach Chris Mack's introductory press conference on Tuesday.
