An earlier idea was that the 50 acre-site at the back of North Augusta’s Knollwood neighborhood would hold 168 new homes.
In a somewhat unusual turn of events, though, that plan was revised downward, by 40 percent, and still put forth by the developer as a feasible project of 102 new homes.
“This is the plan that works for us,” Jason Whinghter, land development manager at Ivey Homes, said.
North Augusta’s planning commission on March 20 gave preliminary plat approval for these 102 homes – 70 single-family units and 30 townhomes –that comprise phase two of Ivey Homes’ Forrest Bluff subdivision.
Further surveying had revealed that the property’s steeply sloped landscape, plus an existing water main, constricted the site plan more than at first thought, Whinghter said.
Phase one of Forrest Bluff, comprising 66 townhomes and single-family residences, wrapped up earlier this year.
