Far Eastern cuisine is the focus of a new restaurant that made its debut recently in Aiken.

Okinawa Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bowl opened April 22 at 1695 Richland Ave. East.

Oscar Salas is the owner of the eatery, and Frank Salas, a cousin, is the manager.

The location most recently was the home of Sombreros, a Mexican restaurant that closed for good last year.

On Okinawa’s extensive menu are hibachi entrees and combos, bento boxes and cooked and raw bowls.

Among the other options are udon, soba and tempura.

Appetizers include spring rolls, rock shrimp, salt and pepper calamari, fried calamari and skewered grilled chicken.

Also available are a variety of soups and salads.

In addition, there is a dine-in only menu for children who are 10 years old and younger.

La Parisienne serves breakfast and lunch, and Meunier said restaurant is beginning to offer dinner on a regular basis this week.

Entrees include steak frites, steak au poivre, steak tartare, grilled salmon, mussels and chicken with white wine mushroom sauce on a bed of mashed potatoes.
